Testified before the New York State Senate Investigative Committee 

Testified before the New York State Senate Investigative Committee on March 12, 2003. Testimony before the committee was a culmination work with the New York State Police Benevolent Association as a consultant in the death of Trooper Ambrose in December 2002 while he was in operation of a Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor (CVPI). CNN made an investigative report of the CVPI which included coverage of the New York State Senate Committee hearing and Interview which followed.

Leading research regarding consequences’ of tire tread separation 

Leading research regarding consequences’ of tire tread separation events including authorship of seven published papers describing tread separation event testing and analysis. One test resulted in the unexpected rollover of a Ford Explorer and is the subject of chapter 24, Crash Test Human, in the book, Tragic Indifference; One Man’s Battle with the Auto Industry over the Dangers of SUVs, by Adam L. Penenberg. The rollover test experience resulted in the interview for the CBS Evening News with Dan Rather.

Numerous published papers describe methods of analysis and consequences regarding the range of possible vehicle loading. Avariety of tests and presentations were made on this subject including a illustrating video produced for the 1995 Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine Annual Conference Poster presentation, “Effects of Passenger and Cargo Loading on a Motor Vehicle’s Mass Properties,” at Chicago, Illinois.

The earliest coauthored peer reviewed scientific paper,“Characterization of Automotive Seat Belt Buckle Inertial Release,” was presented at the Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine Annual Meeting in San Antonio, Texas in November 1993. The presentation included an introductory video that illustrated and illuminated inertial seat belt buckle release.
